Organizations
Students at Longfellow have the opportunity to participate in the following activities:

Kindergarten Helpers

Students in grade five are chosen to escort children in Kindergarten to the cafeteria for lunch time. They are also responsible for helping them open milk cartons, thermos containers, food wrappers and generally make sure that the Kindergarten children eat their lunches. These leaders also help guide the younger children out to recess. It is good to see students helping each other.

Longfellow Leaders

Longfellow Leaders are students who mediate disputes between fellow students. The students selected are known to be fair, reliable, and good communicators.

Disputing students are given a chance to talk uninterrupted so that each side of the problem is heard. Solutions are brainstormed and an agreement is reached. The Longfellow Leader leads this process. All information remains confidential. Longfellow Leaders are trained in a simple six-step process.

Longfellow Leaders assist with hallway monitoring at Lunchtime. They "catch" students behaving and give them "MUSTANG TICKETS" redeemable at the Mustang Market, our school store.

Longfellow Leaders Advisors are:
Mrs. Rettke and Mrs. Thomeier

Safety Patrol

The responsibility of the Longfellow Safety Patrol is to be sure that students are safe coming to school and leaving the school grounds. Students from the Fifth Grade are chosen to be members of the Safety Patrol.

Their advisor is Mrs. Lapuh

School Store

Be sure to visit our Mustang School Store. It is located across the hall from Room 12 near the main entrance. The store is open on Thursday during lunch/recess.  Please stop by to purchase pencils, erasers, seasonal items, folders, bracelets and tattoos. Prices range from 5 cents to 50 cents per item.

Student Council

The Student Council is a representative body of students at each grade level. Each class is entitled to two representatives. The student council is service-oriented. Some responsibilities include popcorn delivery, exchange day participation, and various fund-raising activities for charitable and/or school related causes.  Popcorn is bought on Wednesdays and delivered on Thursdays for 25 cents a bag.  Popcorn is only sold on 5 day weeks.
