Message From the Principal 11-2-18

Our Dream Big theme continues with November’s focus on “Serving Our Country.” We will have our dream team monthly meeting on Friday. To celebrate this special day, we are asking all students and staff to wear Red, , and Blue on Friday November 2nd.
Uniforms: Thank you for your feedback on the uniform survey. Based on your survey results, the majority of the community is not in support of this idea. A uniform policy will NOT be implemented next year at Longfellow.
Change to Calendar at End-of-Year: As you know, we will be moving to a new building next year. We have made an adjustment to the end of year schedule. This will allow us to pack, move, and prepare for the building to be torn down so that the rest of the campus can be finished this summer. The students’ last day of school at Longfellow will now be May 22nd, not May 23rd. This change is also taking place at the other W-E schools that will be moving to new buildings in 2019-2020. The Longfellow Semester II Awards Assemblies planned for May 23rd will now take place on May 22nd.
Friendly Reminders: Per district policy, pets, such as dogs, are not permitted on school grounds. Also, smoking is not permitted on school grounds. During arrival and dismissal, please drive with caution and use the campus loop and designated crosswalks to ensure safety for all students.

Longfellow Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

I hope that you are all having a wonderful summer. Construction for our new building opening 2019-2020 has begun!

In order to maintain the safety of our visitors and students during construction, it is necessary to change the car and bus traffic pattern at Longfellow Elementary. We will continue to use the same bookbag tag and parent pickup loop procedures when dismissing students. Please read the attached letter from Superintendent Thompson and Mayor Morley describing the changes for cars, buses, and walkers. A map is also attached for your review.
