Project Updates

The Willoughby-Eastlake construction projects scheduled for the summer of 2017 are on time and on budget.

During the month of February, the district completed the process of collaborating to identify and select a construction manager at risk (CMR), chosen from multiple applicants.  The use of a CMR gives the district added protection with respect to contracts, keeps costs lower due to economies of scale and enhances the ability to select local contractors.  The partnership will allow our district to provide superior facilities for our students and the community while adhering to the constraints of the projects.

Beginning this summer, renovations will commence at six schools.  All necessary exterior door and window repairs and replacements will be addressed at Royalview Elementary, Willowick Middle School, Eastlake Middle School, Thomas Jefferson, Edison Elementary and Grant Elementary.  In addition to these improvements, there will be significant upgrades to the ingress and egress at Royalview Elementary and Willowick Middle School.  At these schools there will also be improvements in the bus lanes in an effort to improve the flow of traffic and enhance student safety.  The final improvements being completed this spring will be modifications to the stadiums at North and South which will ensure superior experiences to our student athletes and improved safety to visitors, and expand opportunities for community programs and youth leagues.

Ground breaking on the three new schools, North, South and Longfellow will take place in May of 2017.
