Dear Families,
I have had several questions regarding the timeline for communication during an emergency and a lockdown in our schools. Attached you will find a letter outlining the general timeline of events in our school buildings when we are instructed to lockdown. By sharing this timeline, I am hopeful that your anxiety will be lessened when you are not immediately notified, should you hear a school has gone into lockdown.
I realize that many students have a cell phone and you often hear the news from your children, a friend or social media before receiving a message from the district. Please be assured, we will always attempt to communicate with you as quickly as possible.
When a school is placed in lockdown, it is always frightening to all parties involved. I hope that this letter can ease a small amount of anxiety during those times.
As always, the safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance to Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools.
