Fifth Grade

The fifth grade teachers at Royalview not only focus on academics, preparation for tests and making a smooth transition to sixth grade, but we take pride in making your child’s last year at Royalview memorable. Fifth graders can be members or safety Patrol, Royal council, morning announcers and band.

We encourage parental involvement in academics through the use of the online components that accompany our Wonders program, My Math and Interactive Science programs. There are videos and supplemental activities to enhance student learning.

The fifth grade class participates in the D.A.R.E program. Along with our D.A.R.E officer, the fifth graders work alongside Mayor Regovich to determine a “Mayor’s Challenge”. This challenge ties Royalview and the Willowick community together. Past challenges have included updating the courtyard, placing a peace pole in Manry’s butterfly garden, writing pen pal letters to the seniors at the Willowick Senior Center and a friendship bench dedicated to the memory of Mayor Richard Bonde.

The fifth graders make their last year memorable by having a Thanksgiving Feast in November. The entire class sits together to celebrate the history of the holiday.

With the help of our PTA and administration, we provide field trips that enrich our students. Severance Hall allows students to experience the music and culture of the Cleveland Orchestra. Lolly the Trolly takes the students to the ethnic markets in Cleveland including the West Side Market. Our visit to the Art Museum provides students the opportunity to appreciate works of art. The last week of school, the fifth graders will travel to the Perry YMCA for the annual splash party. Also, the fifth grade will go on one more trip. This special 5th grade end of the year trip involves an extended day and going out to eat.
