School Produce Market
The Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools, in partnership with the Cleveland Food Bank, is hosting a School Produce Market once a month. This free and open to the public market helps address food insecurity as well as promote healthy eating. The food is provided in boxes which will be loaded into cars by volunteers. The market will operate on the first Thursday of each month. We will alternate distribution locations between Eastlake North and Willoughby South high schools. Each market begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m., or when the food has all been distributed. We would also like to thank our other sponsors, Heinen's, Laketran, Lowe's and the United Way of Lake County for making this possible for our community.
Coffee Talks
Coffee Talks are held throughout the year to give all community stakeholders an opportunity to stay informed and connected with the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools. Hosted by the superintendent, these informal gatherings provide regular updates on district initiatives, create space for open dialogue, and invite questions and feedback on topics that matter to both the schools and the broader community. Coffee Talks take place at a variety of locations across the district, including school buildings, public libraries, and other community spaces. All stakeholders are encouraged to attend. Dates and times are available on the district calendar and will also be shared through school newsletters and social media.
Senior Citizen Events
Some of the most memorable and heartwarming moments of the school year happen when we welcome our senior citizen community into our schools. Two annual events for residents aged 65 and older have become cherished traditions in Willoughby-Eastlake. These gatherings offer a chance for them to tour our facilities, spend time with students and staff, and enjoy the incredible talents of our students. In December, Senior Citizens Night Out features a festive evening of dinner and student-led musical and dramatic performances. Then in May, the fun continues with our Senior Citizens Prom, a lively celebration filled with dinner, dancing, and plenty of opportunities to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. Sponsored by our students, this special evening often includes shared laughter, great conversations, and even a few dance moves from students and seniors alike!
Special Events
Throughout the year, Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools hosts a wide range of events and performances designed to connect our residents and families with the district and its schools. From districtwide gatherings like the Portrait of a Graduate Summit, where community input helps shape the future of our students, to the Community Stakeholder Event that explores important topics like public school funding, there are many meaningful ways to stay informed and involved. Annual events such as the Alumni Induction Ceremony and the State of the Schools Address offer additional opportunities to celebrate our past and look ahead to our future. At the building level, every school hosts its own unique experiences, from literacy nights and back-to-school events to student showcases, field days, and welcome nights for incoming families. We encourage all parents, families, and community members to take part. In Willoughby-Eastlake, every person matters and every moment counts, and we invite you to be part of it.
