Strategic Planning Committee
The Willoughby-Eastlake Board of Education has created a new sub-committee of the
Board. This sub-committee was created by a Board resolution at their regular meeting
on Monday May 9th, 2022. The sub-committee's purpose is to empower the community
to actively participate in identifying potential modifications to current district operations
should the Board need to reduce its budget by $4,745,186 later this year. Specifically,
the Strategic Planning Committee is charged with developing and presenting to the
Board recommendations concerning reductions to the District’s operating expenses in
order to allow the Board to balance its budget, as required by State law, should the
renewal levy fail in November 2022.
* * * This Committee shall have no involvement in
advocating for or against the passage of the renewal levy. * * *
The Committee, which is expected to consist of thirty community members in addition to
the two co-chairs from the current Board, will meet monthly beginning the last week of
May and concluding in September. The Committee’s meetings are expected, on
average, to conclude within two hours each. All members are strongly encouraged to
attend every meeting to ensure the purpose of the committee can be accomplished.
Applications must be received by Thursday, May 19 th at 6:30 p.m.
Fifteen members of the Committee will be selected through a lottery that will take place
at the Board of Education’s Special Meeting on May 19 th at 7:30 p.m. After the lottery,
the Board will select fifteen additional community members (from those who applied but
were not selected through the lottery) to join the Committee to ensure the committee
contains a diverse group of stakeholders – i.e., homeowners, parents, retirees, non-
homeowners, business members, and alumni).
