EASTLAKE BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT

EASTLAKE BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT

Students from North High Art IV have completed a beautification project on the corner of Erie Road and Lakeshore Boulevard in Eastlake.  In an effort to give back to their community, Lauren Forney, Julia Janik, Alyssa Mumaw, Travis Picquet, Alexis Rubertino, Mackenzie Skorich, Alicia Telzerow, Jacob Vohnout, Nicholas Wright and Briana White began with blank sheets of plywood and created a vision for the project.

Once the students began their design, they worked collaboratively with several others to create the finished product. Employees from Eastlake primed the building for painting and Tom Henderson, a North High Alumni and a retired North High Teacher was solicited to paint the building black.  The students worked hard and designed beautiful Native American Inspired murals. Ron Ironhorse a beloved custodian at North High also painted a mural representing his descendants from the Namnu tribe. The symbol was adopted as their signature, the snake like represents healing, the large dot under the snake represents mother Earth. Finally, the smaller dots represent all the living things on Earth, which should be honored and revered.

The building and art work on the building will serve as an important reminder to honor the past, present and future.
