Willoughby Middle School News

From Mr. Keller about picking up students' personal belongings from lockers :

Dear WMS Parents/Guardians/Families:

With the end of the school year rapidly approaching it is time to share  information with our families regarding how Willoughby Middle students will collect their personal belongings from their hallway lockers.  During the past week, WMS Custodians have been busy cleaning out student hallway lockers and placing the contents into large, heavy-duty plastic bags.  Each bag has been labeled with the student's name and grade.  When possible, our Custodians have separated school textbooks and library books.  Unfortunately, the contents of gym lockers will not be available until school resumes, due to the fact that students are not permitted in the building and the locks used by students for their gym lockers  are proprietary. Please remember, that while planning this and all events surrounding the close of school, our staff at Willoughby Middle School will hold a steadfast commitment to Governor DeWine's mandates so that we can keep our staff, families and students as safe as possible.  If you are not comfortable attending the student locker possessions pickup during the Week of May 25th, please feel free to opt out.  During the locker belongings pickup time,  we will insist that parents, family members and students remain in their cars and allow the WMS staff to bring the bag(s) of locker contents to your vehicle.  It will assist the WMS Staff if each family that arrives at school to pick up their belongings will please place a sign in their car window with the student's first and last name (large enough for staff to see).  If you have more than one student in the same grade and//or multiple grades, you may pick up your students' belongings on the first scheduled day. School issued  textbooks and library books  may also be dropped off at this time.  Families that borrowed Chromebooks from the school district will be provided with instructions on how to return those devices at a later date.  WMS Staff will accept textbooks and library books  as you drive by and place them on carts staged on the front sidewalk.  Parents/familes should enter WMS grounds off Shankland Road and follow the same directional pattern that is used for afternoon student pickup (one way, north to south).

Student belongings that are not picked up on May 26,27 and/or 28th will be held at WMS until school resumes for the 2020-2021 school year  (date to be announced).
