Northern Career Institute Community Open House

The Northern Career Institute – Eastlake Campus is holding an Open House for the public on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The campus provides educational programming to approximately 250 adult and high school students.  The campus is a part of the Willoughby-Eastlake City School District.

During the Open House, attendees can take advantage of free blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) screenings, and self-guided tours. The Medical Billing and Coding Instructor will offer free tips on how to read a medical bill and how to better understand your explanation of insurance benefits.

NCI offers workforce development training for high school graduates who are seeking a credential in a high demand healthcare field. Programs available include Medical Billing and Coding Specialist, Medical Assisting, and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). In addition, NCI serves as the healthcare career-technical education training site for current high school students enrolled in a district that is part of the Excel TECC consortium. These programs include Allied Health (Nursing Assistant), Health Informatics, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and Medical Assisting.

Superintendent Steve Thompson shared that “The building was recently renovated and includes a second skills lab, student commons, and quiet study lounge as well as a large auditorium for classes and professional development. Students practice hands-on patient care with realistic mannequins and medical equipment in the skills labs. We are pleased to offer the facility for our adult community residents who are seeking heath care certifications for employment, and support our high school career technical healthcare programs with updated facilities.”
