Purple Star Awards

Purple Star Logo

The Purple Star Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. Schools that earn the award will receive a special Purple Star recognition to display on site. A school will be honored with the Purple Star Award if it completes all the required activities, plus one optional activity. Ohio has 600 active Purple Star schools. To qualify, schools choose a school-based staff person to serve as a liaison between military families and the school. These liaisons complete professional development, identify military-connected students, and facilitate support throughout the school community for identified students and families. Purple Star schools also participate in at least one supportive activity each year.

Congratulations to all eleven school buildings who earned their Purple Star and have a school-based liaison:  Edison Elementary, Grant Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Longfellow Elementary, Royalview Elementary, Eastlake Middle School, Willowick Middle School, Willoughby Middle School, School of Innovation, North High School and South High School.
