Parent Involvement

***Parents who want to help are encouraged to spend time with your son playing long toss at least 2-3 times per week to help gain arm strength.

***Encouraging your son to attend open gyms, lift weights, and work on agility is also a great way to help out the program and teach an overall healthy lifestyle.

***Any parents who want to get involved in non-coaching aspects of the program such as fundraising, bingo, doubleheader food, scoreboard operation, spirit wear, etc. please contact Coach Eberly. No e-mail lists will be sent out any more asking for help as all info. will be on the website.

****Each year playing time will be an issue among parents in almost every sport including baseball. We understand that all players want to play every inning of every game but unfortunately that is not possible. We have had in place for two years the communication process regarding playing time.

Communication process:

As a varsity sport playing time is not guaranteed to any player. The coaches frequently discuss lineups and we are all on the same page about who will give us the best chance for success each game. Factors we discuss before making a line up are: overall effort in practice, pitching, defense, speed, attitude, offensive execution in practice and in batting practice, baseball IQ, team chemistry, hot/cold streaks, weather conditions, and opponents strengths and weaknesses.

Step 1- If a player wants to know what they need to improve on to get more playing time they need to ask any coach and an honest assessment will be made. We ask that players take care of this instead of parents as parents are not at practice and don't get to see what the coaching staff sees. We believe this will help with the growth and maturity of each individual player.

Step 2- Players should verbalize with the parents what the recommendations for improvement are.

Step 3- Parents are free to contact any coach to arrange a meeting AFTER the player has asked a coach what he can improve/what his role is on the team is AND works hard to improve. A parent meeting will not guarantee any additional playing time nor will it hurt the chances of more time. ***The coaching staff will not discuss playing time on game day.***
