Q: How many hours a week will my child be involved in Marching Band?
A: It depends on the week. Below are the average hours:
Tuesday - Thursday - 2 - 3 hours a day (more on sectional days)
Friday (GAME DAYS) - Approximately 6 hours (Depending on if the game is home or away)
Saturday (Competition days) - Approximately 10 - 12 hours.
Marching Band is a big time commitment, but it pays off in the end.
Q: Does my student have to be in the Marching Band if they play an instrument for the school band?
A: No. The Marching Band is an extra-curricular activity at Willoughby South High School.
Q: How do I buy tickets for home games?
Q: Can I volunteer to help?
A: YES! We cannot operate without the help from many volunteers. If you will be working alongside the students, you will need to be fingerprinted. Please reach out to Mr. P to begin this process. There are many non-student related volunteer opportunities as well. Please check out our
volunteer sign up link to see all of the current volunteer opportunities.
Q: Does it cost for parents to attend games / competitions?
A: Yes it does. There is a cost for all spectators at games and competitions. Some competitions, specifically STATE, have a parking fee as well. The Band Boosters will do our best to provide links to purchase tickets ahead of time on our Willoughby South Band Families Facebook page and the weekly update.
Q: Are the competitions outside or inside?
A: All Marching Band competitions are held at outdoor stadiums.
In the Spring, the Wind Symphony and individual competitions are held indoors.
