School of Innovation 2019 - 2020 Application Process

SCHOOL OF INNOVATION ADMISSIONS AND LOTTERY PROCESS

Incoming Third Graders for 2019-2020

The School of Innovation engages students and teachers in innovative approaches to problem-solving with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students receive instruction in all content areas, as well as music, art and physical education, and much of the content is presented through a trans-disciplinary approach. Band begins at fifth grade. The students participate in flexible grouping depending upon their skills, interests and the units of instruction. Once students reach the middle school grades, they will return to their home school for sports. The School of Innovation, also referred to as SOI, serves as a model learning environment for other schools in our district, the county, the state and the nation.

Schoolstore.com: This week, we are sending home information for a no-cost, no hassle fundraiser for our school! SchoolStore.com is an online shopping mall where over 400 nationally-known online merchants have agreed to give a percentage of sales to K-12 schools. Companies like Walmart.com, Sears, Target, DisneyStore.com, and Best Buy participate. SchoolStore is a great way to support our school when you shop at your favorite online merchants. And best of all…Students earn prizes directly from schoolstore.com. More information can be found in your parent packet that came home this week! Our school code is 10804.

Longfellow Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

I hope that you are all having a wonderful summer. Construction for our new building opening 2019-2020 has begun!

In order to maintain the safety of our visitors and students during construction, it is necessary to change the car and bus traffic pattern at Longfellow Elementary. We will continue to use the same bookbag tag and parent pickup loop procedures when dismissing students. Please read the attached letter from Superintendent Thompson and Mayor Morley describing the changes for cars, buses, and walkers. A map is also attached for your review.
